It is difficult to say goodbye to something that has been so much a part of my life, but after 15 years and 80 issues, it's time to close down.

Vision: A Resource for Writers is stopping active production with this issue.

The world of the internet has changed since the first issue appeared in January, 2001. Facebook is a hotspot for joining writing groups and getting information, both good and bad. The bad information is almost always challenged, so if you are willing to wade through the drama (and there is always drama), then you can learn all kinds of interesting things.

The problem is that the information is rarely more than a few lines long, though. It takes a lot more to build up a coherent picture about writing through Facebook posts, but that is still the way many new writers are learning. Twitter may seem an odd place to learn things, but there are some lovely writer chats that turn up there like #litchat. It's also fun to watch #amwriting.

There are blogs out there that offer good advice, but again, it's a matter of hunting them out and finding the ones that work for you.

There may still come a time when you are going to want to learn more or delve deeper into some aspect of writing. There are articles and blog posts all over the internet. Hunt them down and be discerning in what you choose to follow. Don't trust anyone who tells you there is only one way and if something doesn't work for you, try another way.

The archives for Vision, somewhere around 1000 articles long, will still be available. I am slowly getting the older articles moved over to the new site so that the Categories listing works and you'll be able to easily find material on the subject you're interested in. As time goes on, there will be other refinements as well.

Vision: A Resource for Writers is not going to disappear. I might even add a new article in now and then. After all, I wrote articles for every one of the 80 issues and I don't think I'm going to be able to just stop. Be sure to spread the word to others whenever you find someone who is new to writing and looking for answers. The amount of work that people put into the plethora of lovely articles you'll find on this site should not be wasted.

And with that I would like to thank all the people who contributed down through the years. They've done an exceptional job of helping other authors, both in giving excellent advice and in showing new ways to look at old things. I still go browsing through the archives and I'm amazed at the gems I find at every turn.

A special thanks to Margaret McGaffey Fisk and J.A. Marlow who worked with me in the endless job of rounding up material as well as writing for the ezine. Both have some lovely books out, so you should go and check them out! I have several books on writing available (Two Year Novel Course, Writing Short, NaNo for the New and the Insane) plus a fiction, so check out my site as well,

To all our readers who are also writers working at making their own dreams come true: Don't Give Up! We can still help. You can even email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. Good luck!
