There is not a lot to say about this wonderful little site. The page has only two parts: The side on which you write and the side on which the picture appears. At the bottom is a drop down menu where you can set up to have a new kitten appear every 100, 200, 500 or 1000 words. Beside that is a word count and an 'About' button. The About reads:

Written Kitten was created by Skud, Emily and contributors. We like positive reinforcement, so we decided to make something a bit like writeordie but cuter and fuzzier. Images are randomly selected from Flickr's “most interesting” photos matching the tags “kitten” and “cute”.Enjoy!

That's all there is too the site. You start typing on the writing side and every hundred words, a new kitten picture pops up. In the Forward Motion chat room, you often read such things as 'Ten kittens!' or 'I need another seven kittens tonight!' These statements make no sense at all to the uninitiated, but for those of us who sometimes use the site, it makes a nice change of pace and a cute little reward for doing the writing.

There is, however, another secret to Written? Kitten! that many people are not aware of yet. You can actually substitute the kitten pictures with other creatures! (But, come on, who doesn't love little furry kitty faces!) For dog lovers, try this:

In fact, you can add the ?search= [whatever you want] # and see what you get. However, be aware that some things (like dragons) can come up with Not Safe For Work pictures.

One important thing to remember: No matter what, be certain you copy your text often and paste it into a real file. Even if your computer usually retains the information on the page, you don't want to lose it.

Try it. Getting a new kitten every 100 words is addictive and fun.
