Mar's Market has been a running column since 2004, and in that time, it's covered a wide variety of market topics and markets. Though market information is fluid and so needs to be researched carefully before you decide what to do, these articles can still offer a starting point and some things to think about whether you're about to send your first submission or evaluating how you should proceed. I hope you find something worthwhile in nine years of Mar's Market linked and summarized below.

These first reports contained the information necessary to determine if a market was of interest and where to learn more. Each market was chosen based on a writing group publication announcement, going on the assumption that such markets were more likely to be open to newer writers. Please note when these articles were published. Some of the markets are no longer around while others have changed both staff and payments. Always check the latest information on any market you're interested in. While Ralan's is still around, Quintamid Market Database has not been kept up to date as far as I can tell, and the new market research starting point is Duotrope.com, which didn't exist when these started.
